Yesterday I participated in an "Art-A-Thon" to benefit victims of the earthquake in Haiti. I had four hours to paint a 12x12" painting that would be bid on later on. This definitely took me out of my painting element as a painting of this size would normally take about 12 hours . Nonetheless I finished the painting and it was hung on the wall to bid on later. I did not think the painting was very good, but I guess with events like this I need to remember it is not about perfection, but rather a reminder of the importance of community. Maybe the painting put a smile on someone's face and hopefully the money donated will help aid that region of the world in a small way.
The event was alot of fun, but I was hoping to see more people. The kids enjoyed painting, and they seemed interested by the airbrush artists. I was painting in the morning and early afternoon - being the event was in a nightclub I am sure the it got more crowded as the moved on.
